Center Policies
Supporting a Safe, Consistent, and Caring Environment
At Abundantly Blessed Childcare Center, our policies are designed to ensure a safe, nurturing, and structured environment for every child in our care. We ask families to review the following guidelines so we can work together to support your child’s growth and daily routine.
Attendance
Regular attendance helps children adjust to routines and feel secure at the center. We encourage parents to bring their child consistently and communicate any planned absences.
Arrival & Departure
Parents must sign their child in and out each day.
Say a calm “goodbye” or “see you later” to support a smooth transition.
Arrival Cutoffs:
- No arrivals after 8:30 AM
- We accept children up to 10:30 AM with a valid doctors excuse
Please check the HiMama app for important updates and communication.
Sick Policy
To protect all children and staff, please keep your child home if they are ill. Children will not be accepted if they arrive after the 8:30 AM cutoff without a doctor’s excuse.
Keep your child home for any of the following:
- Temperature 100°F or higher
- Vomiting
- Thick yellow or green nasal discharge
- Pink eye or eye drainage
- Diarrhea
- Contagious rashes (e.g., impetigo, scabies)
- COVID
- Pneumonia
- Upper Respiratory Infection
- RSV
- Hand Mouth & Food
- Any other contagious illness
A doctor’s release is required before returning after an illness.
After-school students may attend only after school or when school is closed.
Disruptive Behavior
We follow a multi-step approach that may include:
- Incident reports
- Behavior journaling
- Meetings between parents, teachers, and the director
- Outside support if necessary
If disruptive behavior continues, alternative childcare may be requested.
“The Safe Place” Spot
Each classroom includes a calm, designated area where children can take a moment to rest, breathe, and regain control when feeling overwhelmed.
Prohibited Items
For everyone’s safety, the following items are not allowed on the premises:
- Toys from home *can cause disruption (unless it is a Special Needs Accommodation)
- Outside food (unless approved for special activities)
- Cigarettes, smokeless tobacco
- Firearms, ammunition, or other weapons
Termination Policy
Enrollment may be ended for reasons including:
- Failure to pay tuition
- Incomplete forms
- Lack of parental cooperation
- Child’s inability to adjust to the environment
- Physical or verbal abuse
- Inability to meet the child’s needs
- Policy violations
- Serious illness
- False information provided at enrollment
- Excessive tardiness
Child Abuse & Neglect Reporting
As a licensed childcare center, ABCC is required by law to report any suspected abuse or neglect to the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services. Reports are made without prior parental notification.
Medication Policy
Medications will be administered only when medically necessary three to four times daily or in emergency situations, and must follow all state guidelines.
Medication form must be completed prior to medication being administered.
Toilet Training
We partner with families to create a positive toilet training experience.
- Training begins when both child and parents are ready.
- Potty training begins at home first.
- Children should wear training pants or cloth pull-ups during this stage.
- Pull-ups must snap and un-snap on the side.
- Please provide extra clothing.
- For safety and independence, avoid onesies, belts, overalls, or pants with difficult fasteners.
Rest Time
Children attending more than four hours each day must have rest time. With the exception of infants on individual schedules, rest time occurs between 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM.
Food & Nutrition
- The center provides nutritious meals and snacks daily. (Breakfast, Lunch & Snack)
- Parents supply formula for infants.
- Allergies are clearly posted in classrooms.
- If your child has a food allergy, we must receive documentation in writing from their physician.
- Staff model healthy eating habits and encourage children to try new foods.
- Infants do not receive cereal in bottles before 5 months and begin solid foods around 10 months, following recommended guidelines.
Biting Policy
We understand that biting can be a normal stage of development for some children. Our approach includes:
- Incident reports for both children involved
- Confidentiality regarding names
- Journaling patterns for repeated incidents
- Identifying triggers and adjusting the environment when possible
- Parent-teacher meetings if biting continues
